On Thursday 6 February, Pridwin held its annual Tents and Torches evening. This is a fun community event designed to celebrate Pridwin’s Big Brother programme and to welcome new families into the community. The Big Brother programme entails pairing each Grade 7 boy with a little brother. Doing so provides the Grade 7s with opportunities to mentor younger learners and develop their leadership skills, while the big brothers help the younger boys to adjust to their new learning environment and develop a sense of belonging.
The stormy weather on the night sent the picnickers and tents indoors, but it was no dampener. The older boys entertained their “little brothers” with books and board games while parents swopped stories about their son and their Pridwin experience. By all accounts, it was a wonderful evening.
